Best Tap for Difficult Applications

The YG Synchro Tap is the best high performance tap we have run and is a problem solver for us in difficult applications! The Synchro Tap has a few new features that make it ideal for difficult Steel & Stainless Applications:

A H7 Shank Tolerance (compared to H9 for most other taps) to give you better runout
More back relief to generates less heat in the cut and make it freer cutting. With this feature we have found you can run it without tapping fluid if increase your coolant concentration to 12-14% (make sure you are using a heavy duty semi-synthetic or soluble oil coolant or cutting oil)
A Powdered Metal Substrate that gives both high hardness for wear resistance and toughness for strength. Powdered Metal in both Taps and Drills will improve tool life greatly over HSSV3.
A Hard PVD TIN Coating for wear resistance and the ability to run in all materials (Steel, Stainless, Aluminum)
You can run a Synchro Tap at 2X and 3X the RPM of a Standard Tap if you run it in a Synchro Holder. The Synchro Holder gives better runout over standard quick change tap holders and that along with the H7 Shank & Back relief allows you to run it 2X-3X faster!
The Synchro Tap is available in a Spiral Point Plug for Thru Holes (3-5 Pitch Lead), Spiral Flute Modified Bottoming for Blind Holes (2-3 Pitch Lead) and Form Taps with More Oil Grooves for Better Performance (1-2 Pitch Lead)

The YG Combo Coolant Thru Tap comes in either a Spiral Point Plug Tap with Coolant Thru The Flutes for Thru Holes or a Spiral Flute Modified Bottom with Coolant Thru the Bottom for Blind Holes. With the Coolant Thru design you no longer need to use tapping fluid and your taps will last much longer making this series of taps ideal for high production applications. Available starting at ¼” (or M6) Sized Taps and going up to 1” (or M20). This is a Great Series of Taps at a very economical price point for coolant thru!

A Form Tap is always our first choice for Aluminum (it also works great in low to medium carbon steels & stainless!) but a lot of parts require a Cut Tap and YG has an excellent series with sharp cutting edges and a lower flute count to make sure chips evacuate.
